The first step is to fill out a simple adoption application. We ask that potential adopters fill this out so that we can ensure our rats are going to loving and prepared homes, and so that we can identify any areas where the adopter might need additional guidance. We cannot approve all adoption applications, so please do not take it personally if your application is denied. For common reasons why applications are denied, visit our Policies section. Please message us via Instagram, email, or text to let us know you have filled out an application and are interested, incuding the email you used in the application. We will notify you once your application has been approved or denied.
Once you are an approved adopter, you can adopt right away if there are rats currently available. If we are sold out, you should follow us on instagram and turn on post notifications so that you know when the next litter will be posted. If you don't have an instagram, let me know, and I can email you at least 24 hours in advance of reservations opening on our next litter
For the health of our rats, we are a closed rattery. This means that we do not allow adopters inside the rattery located inside our home but will meet adopters in a public meet up place next to our house in Mountain View.
Many illnesses and parasites including influenza, mites, and fleas can be carried on human hosts for hours or days after last contact with the affected animal. It is for these reasons that we don't allow anyone into our rattery for the safety of our colony.
